After five years leading the VA Folk-Jazz Trio and Big Lick Brass Band, Scott Kulick has returned to his roots leading a Jazz Combo. The original compositions and intricate arrangements display Scott’s broad musical influences ranging from Art Blakey’s Jazz Messengers to the the Afro-Cuban polyrhythms of Chucho Valdes, the vocal acrobatics of Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan to the postmodern lament of Radiohead. In the Scott Kulick Group, the players’ individual voices have ample opportunity to be heard while still coming together as a cohesive and unique sound.
